While the Preppi Preschool Program begins with reality, the Preppi Grade School Program takes off on a journey of imagination and exploration. In this level, the children utilize their firm foundation of reality to imagine higher and bigger concepts. Take for instance, science principles at play in everyday life and inspiring inventions—these require imagination. The vastness of the galaxies and the minuteness of a cell are seen not by the naked eye but through imagination. Multi-digit numbers beyond what you can count require imagination. Creative writing and learning history and cultural geography require imagination. High order thinking skills are exercised in every learning area.
Following the developmental level of the Grade School child, Great Works are made through discovery and appreciation of one’s skills and abilities, practice of concentration and exploration. Communication is at a more heightened plane as children wonder about the why’s and how’s of the world. They develop oral and verbal communication skills through interactive discussions, debates, forums, interviews and creative presentations and expressions of body and mind.
Grade School children are actively involved in planning, preparing and promoting their school programs. They are participants to every phase of organization, applying life and academic skills they learn, and perform with gusto as they show off their their talents and skills.
Children produce their own newsletter, the Preppi WINGS eZine. They apply language and creative arts skills as they engage in Kids’ Clubs. They do camera and video productions, performing arts and computer graphics productions.
They learn life skills to prepare them for adult life: from the home basics of making bed, cleaning, cooking to student life skills of typing, note-taking, taking dictation, speed reading and writing. For real world preparation, they do Going Out Trips to open their own bank accounts, do grocery shopping, fine dining experience, cashiering and serving in a restaurant, public speaking in real adult conferences, hosting special events, explorations of historical and cultural sites for practical application of lessons learned and many more. Simulations through Special Events allow the child to learn and appreciate how to “live in the real adult world”. Special Events cover seasonal and/or annual calendar events and Special Events that are Thematic like Airport Day, Renaissance Day, Pirate Day, Cowboy Day, and many more.
